I had the awesome opportunity to go and serve in the Dominican in January. I went with a dental team . I was able to go and play with the kids and color with them and basically just love on them.
They just loved having someone pay attention to them...and boy did they LOVE the camera. They are so thankful and so appreciative of everything. I had about 17 of them coloring all at once for about 2 hours.
Like that would ever happen here in Canada......after 15 minutes the kids would be like..."whats next??"
I wish I could have brought all these beautiful kids home with me.

Typical little boys!! Playing with trucks, jumping on people, fast g.t's down the hill, thowing snow at girls!!! Right from the start you can see the boy in them! On sunday we got to take a drive out to Kenora to take some photos. What a beautiful drive. Sun glistening over the snow, clear dry roads, rocks, trees, lakes...what more could you want. My first shoot was with a girl named shannon and her daughter Lauren. I felt like we were heading to Narnia when we went to her place. Seriously...it is WAY back there. Such a gorgeous spot on the lake. Shannon makes gorgeous jewellery. I always love going to see what she has created! We visited then headed out for some photos in their gorgeous yard.

Highschool sweethearts celebrated their wedding on Saturday and I had the awesome priviledge of being a part of their big day. My favorite part of the day was when we got to go into their old highschool and take photos of them where they first met and spent so much time together. How neat to be able to capture them in their old classroom and walking down their old hallway where they use to flirt and be silly together. Loved it.

It was so hard to choose between all of the fantastic entries. I wish I could have chosen all of you....but after reading them over and over again, we finally narrowed it down to just one submission.

Below I'll share a few peices of one of their favorite moments together.

"We decided that for our one year anniversary of dating we would stray a little from the beaten path. Our evening began at Value Village where we both found some pretty sweet/vintage/80's style formal wear. My dress was SO awesome, purple, mid-calf length, shoulder pads and beading galore! Cody got a very sweet cardigan, tie, and some nice bi-focal glasses!

After getting dressed up, we hit the town! Mongo's for supper where we got looks from most everyone in the line up for stir-fry, (I kind of had trouble seeing because the thick glasses I had on were NOT my prescription). Then starbucks for latte's, followed by hitting up the casino to play the slots! The whole time we had a bit going about how we were a mid-forties couple in the 80's; Bill and Phyllis Campbell. Bill sold insurance, and Phyllis was always nagging him about watching his weight."

Naomi and Cody will be awarded a free photoshoot with a fifty dollar credit to be used towards pictures of their choice.

February is certainly a season of fun and love. This year I would like to propose a contest to celebrate love. All couples, of all ages are eligible. The winning couple will receive a complimentary photo shoot on location, as well as a fifty dollar credit to use towards images of their choice.

So how do you win?

Send us your story of the most memorable date the two of you have had. With the story include a recent picture and an explanation of why you think you should be the couple chosen to win! Please keep to one page or less.

This was so much fun to see all these great people again. I grew up just down the road from them and would often go play hockey at the community rink with Tim and Dallas. My brother was good friends with their older brother Marlin so we use to see quite a bit of each other. I got to see them all again this past week and for some of them it had been close to 10 years or more that we had seen each other. This is an incredible family. Lots of love!!

Clem is an old friend that I grew up with. It's been awhile since we've seen each other but he and his boys were heading back home this christmas and wanted some shots of just them being together, just being boys. So thats what we did. We headed out in the bush and the boys all built a fire together. Then they made pretend houses out of the snow. After it got a little chilly we headed back inside for some shots of them wrestling on the couch! Thats what boys do right?? Great to see you again Clem. Your boys adore you!

For it being the middle of November in Winnipeg we are having an absolutley incredible fall. All this little guy needed was a little sweat jacket. Thats unheard of!! We headed to Fort Whyte Center for their pictures. What a neat place. I had never been there before but will definitely be going back. Nicole wanted something outdoorsy and natural....perfect spot for that.

Hey all my blog readers! I was just out in Vancouver training under RAD studio. They are amazing photographers and absolutely wonderful people. I had two days of intense photography and business training with them. There is always so much we can learn from other people. Rad studio is a husband and wife team that is very successful and gifted at what they do. I felt so priviledged to go and spend a few days with them. I left with more focus, more experience and new fun ideas to try out! I can't wait to start implementing some of these things. You'll start to see a few differences in how I do things. I'm excited to have fresh vision for photography by Jodi. And all of you will definitely reap some of the benefits!
After my training I was able to hang out with some fantastic old friends. That in itself is refreshing....then add mountains and hiking and being outdoors and it's a whole new ballgame. I love getting away and being in nature. It's always so refreshing to be in and amongst God's creation! It was hard driving away and seeing the mountains disappear.....however I know that next time I go they will be there!

I headed on out to go do this shoot last Saturday morning. I loaded up my sleigh because the ground we covered in snow and started crawling along. After seeing three cars in the ditch in the first couple of miles, and driving about 40 km I figured it may be a bit too risky!! So Miranda kinda rescheduled for a few days later. Then instead of a sleigh I brought a wagon. Sheesh this crazy Winnipeg weather!

There were sooo many elements of this wedding I absolutely loved! First off, all her bridesmaids were from all over the place....so she told them, "When you come, bring a black dress." I love that! No fuss was needed. Some girls borrowed, some used what they had and a couple bought.
Next favorite thing was Kalandras look. I absolutely adore the simple yet elegant look. The hair more natural, pearls, flowers in hair, her dress...everything about her look i loved! The music at the cermony was phenomenal. Two guitarists playing and drumming on their guitar. I wish I could put a video up here of it. Not sure what it was called but I have never heard anything quite so unique.
Tyler you just make me laugh. Plain and simple. I love watching the two of you interact and love on each other. Beautiful.

This weekend I had the chance to head down to the states to visit some family! While I was there I was able to do some grad pictures for my cousin Hannah! We had sooo much fun. She is one talented dancer...so we tried to incorporate that into a few shots!
The afternoon consisted of outfit changes, bridges, allies, train tracks and fields! Then to end the night....icecream at dairy barn! (Can't remember the name for the icecream place...so I'll just call it dairy barn :)

Sam and Joe are an absolutely adorable couple that we know from our church here in Winnipeg.
Their wedding was totally breathtaking. The decor for the wedding and the reception was STUNNING. I have never seen such amazing flower arrangements and center peices. Jessica contacted me a few weeks ago about doing some photos of their whole family up at their cabin. I LOVE it when people take me up to their cabins....first off they are at a place where they LOVE spending time and secondly the cabins and surrounding areas are always such a beautiful backdrop for pictures.

The neat things is Jess and I's mom's are best friends. So when we were younger we played together ALL the time. We would take all of the groceries out of the cupboards and play store. Pretending to scan each item. Our dream was to work somewhere one day where there would be a scanner... so we could beep things through.
We don't get to hang out anymore but it was a privilege seeing her and her family.

Mr. and Mrs. Ogden you have a beautiful place to spend time with the ones you love!

If you've never been to Shine Dental....you've gotta go! All of the people that work there are friendly and very welcoming. I had an opportunity to do a photoshoot with their team last week and had such a great time with all of them.

Brent and his wife Wendy own Shine Dental and when you go there, you not only get awesome service, you are also helping children in Mexico receive dental work.

50th Anniversary Celebration

One of my friends Alyssa, called me up and asked if I'd take some photos of their whole family at their grandparents 50th anniversary. "How many are there?" I asked. "Fourty Two." She said.
Sheesh....I was like...holy moly...how in the world do I arrange 42 people somewhat creatively......Lord please help!!!

Anyway it was an honor and a priviledge to be there with all these great people. What a tight family bond they all had together. My greatest hope is that when I am having my 50th anniversary all our family can be there to celebrate with us too..... What a beautiful legacy Mr. and Mrs. Kaemingh are leaving. Here is a shot of all of them and then each individual family.

I met Dana for the first time just over a month ago. She is the type of person who even though you just met her...it feels like you've known her forever. She makes you feel so welcome and so comfortable that you can't help but love being around her.

Hmmmm.....where to start???
Wednesday afternoon was a real treat for me. For the first time in years I was able to reconnect with a very special, dear friend. One who mentored me, taught me and was an incredible friend to me.

Norms....I love ya so much. It was such a gift to see you again and meet your beautiful daughter. I felt like we didn't even miss a beat....that we were back in time about 7 years ago and there we were sitting in the back yard catching up. The only thing that was missing was Ben and Jerry's icecream....and a goold ole wrestling match. On the drive from your place I was thinking of the couch and lamp we broke of my moms'....we were definitely serious when it came to wrestling.
I want you to know that you had a massive part in me becoming who I am today. Thank you for your wise words, your encouragement and your real friendship. Also thank you for lending me your camera...and getting me started on this path of photography. May God continue to use you and your family in Korea. I pray for increase in your lives in every way possible.

Ty was so adorable when he came on Friday. He had just woken up from a nap in the car and was still pretty sleepy. This first image is of him on the tricycle.... not wanting his picture taken. Long story short....Kathryn is my husbands cousin from Toronto. I have only met her once before this week! She is wanting to get into photography out there so she asked if she could come and assist me for a week! I jumped at the opportunity because I have had great photographers do the same for me. So this was my chance to give back.
Kathryn came with me for ten days out to Northwestern Ontario to do some shooting and get a chance to build her portfolio. She was great to have along. Our days were packed and by the time we were heading back to Winnipeg we were both totally exhausted. We definitely made the best of our time out there. Thanks for coming Kathryn. It was great to get to know you better.
